Small incision lenticule extraction. The VisuMax 800 femtosecond laser shapes a thin disc of tissue, the lenticule, inside the cornea and it is drawn out through a 2 mm opening. No flap, nothing cut on the surface beyond the keyhole.

What does the ZEISS VisuMax 800 change?

Speed and comfort. The 800 cuts the lenticule in under ten seconds per eye, so there is less time under suction, less chance of losing fixation, and a calmer experience.

Is SMILE Pro better than LASIK?

Different, not better. It avoids a flap and is kinder to dry eyes, but it does not treat hyperopia. Your scan and your power decide between the two.
